Bittersweet Fun

Once a month I get together at Archivers with some of my favorite crafty girls for a day of cutting up, laughter, eating, shopping, and a little scrapbooking  too.  Sadly, this chapter will be coming to an end as Archivers will be closing for good in February.  We thought yesterday would be our last time together at the store but we decided to sign up for one last crop next month and I'm already looking forward to it.   I did manage to get two layouts done yesterday that I'm really pleased with.

The first layout was for the January Pajama Party over at iclassygirl.com . I used my Zing to cut out this cute chipboard Santa Claus to match the real one in my layout.  I am so glad that I saved just a bit more to buy this particular cutter over the Cameo because it does so much more!

Supplies used:  Paper and embellishments- MME Lost & Found Christmas; Santa Die Cut- Make the Cut software gallery; American Crafts Thickers

The layout below was created in combination for two other challenges.  I'm really going to try very hard to do more creating at home this year and one of the things that is going to help is if I try to do something in small increments of time each day.  iclassygirl's from desk to done series is just the way I plan to do this.  She shows you how to spend 5 minutes each day doing a simple task like selecting your pictures first, and then the next day selecting papers, next day embellishments, next day may be trimming, and so on, and by the final 5th or 6th day you've created a beautiful layout.  This is perfect for those of use who are holding it down with kids, work outside the home, and all the other things that keep us busy and away from the hobby that we love.

I've also entered this layout in the January Misty Blue challenge over at Scraps of Color which happens to be my favorite scrapbook site!  The requirements for this challenge were to use the color blue, washi tape, a stamped image, two glimmer mists, and a title.  At first I was overwhelmed by all the requirements, particularly since I had never used glimmer mist before, but thanks to scrapper extraordinaire Tena E over at Scraps of Color who loaned me some beautiful glimmer mist, and to Classygirl herself, Tiare who showed me how to apply it, I worked it out and completed my page.  Love you ladies!  :)

Supplies used: Paper - Jillibean Soup Happy Campers Stew; Burlap & Flower - Hobby Lobby; Embellishments - Making Memories clip, Kaiser Craft brad; Washi Adhesive Sheet- We R Memory Keepers;  floral chain stamp, glimmer mist

December Scrapbook Pajama Party

Though I was not able to join in on the December Pajama Party over at iclassygirl.com because I was busy trying to get ready for Christmas, I WAS able to attend a fun weekend retreat with classygirl and my other girls and complete my layout based on her fun sketch.   Here it is -

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

September Pajama Party Layout & Cards

So far I've done a pretty good job of keeping up with the Pajama Party challenges over at iclassygirl.com but I have SO NOT done a very good job of keeping up with this blog and really getting it started.  Do I want it to be just a challenge blog or rather a place to be more expressive?  I guess the answers are within and until I figure it out, I'll just do what I do, when I do, and keep it movin'.

 September Pajama Party layout.

I used the scraps from my layout to make these two cards.

Thanks for looking!

Fun over at Spreecast

I joined in a Spreecast scrapbook pajama party with my girl Tiare over at iclassygirl.com the other night and it was a lot of fun!  I'm usually not one that creates very quickly, but I was determined to give it my best shot and I'm so glad that I did.  She provides a sketch (which I love) and then we watch, listen, and chat along with her as she creates her layout all while attempting to create our own.  After she completes her layout, she uses the same sketch to create a card with her paper leftovers, which is such a great way to use those scraps and keep them from piling up for storage.

Below is her fabulous sketch, my layout interpretation of it, and my card. Since I only used one piece of pattern paper for my base the only scraps that I had left over were from the little piggy chipboard die cut that I made.  I also turned the sketch to the right to accommodate my pictures.  Thanks for looking, and thank you to my very creative 11 year old daughter for coloring the flower on my card.   Love you!  :)

Supplies used:  Fancy Pants paper, Recollections cardstock, Bo Bunny ribbon, American Craft Thickers, Prima flowers, Martha Stewart border punch, Hero Arts stamp, Bic Mark-it pens, Viva Decor Pearl Pen, pearls and brads from stash.

Happy National Scrapbook Day!

Hello and Happy National Scrapbook Day to all my crafty friends!  I was going to spend the weekend celebrating by organizing my craft room and making a few cards, but I decided to first spend some time making some layouts, which is my first love.

I did two layouts using two great sketches.  The first was from Classygirl over at iclassygirl.com .  You can see more information on her blog. She did a live spreecast and showed us how she puts together her fabulous pages.  It was a lot of fun and I can't wait to join her again!

Both of my layouts show pictures of my daughter on her first day of third grade.  The first page shows her in the house before leaving for school, and the second page is of her and her new teacher.

The second sketch was also designed by Classygirl for a National Scrapbook Day challenge over at Scraps of Color . These two sketches complimented each other very well so it was easy for me to flip the sketches to accommodate my picture orientations, stick to the same theme, and knock out two more school pages.

Products used:  Studio Calico paper and wood veneer stars, Hobby Lobby ribbon and buttons, Heidi Grace chipboard letters, Momenta sticker letters

I'm Finally Blogging!

Woo hoo!  I'm finally blogging!  I had to laugh along with a certain "Classygirl" that I know and love when I shared with her that I have had a blog in the makings for a very long time, and even managed to acquire a few followers without ever having made a single post.  Please bare with me while I work on getting this blog together and navigating the whole blogosphere itself.  I am happy though that I've entered the 21st century and am now on my way to having a simple place of my own to share my creations and other things that are on my mind.

I'll start off by sharing a card that I made for the "It's Time" blog challenge over at Scraps of Color Espire I am also going to enter the card in the "Anything Robert Jackson Goes" challenge" over at Scraps of Color .  Thanks for looking.

Supplies used: Robert Jackson digital stamp, Hobby Lobby embossing Folder, Cuttlebug embossing folder, Viva Decor Pearl Pen
